Welcome to Room 6's first Blog!
In Term One we learnt about Insects as our Inquiry Topic. We learnt that Insects have 6 legs and 3 main parts to their bodies - the head, thorax and abdomen. We learnt that spiders are not insects. They belong to the family called Arthropods.
In Term Two our Inquiry topic is going to be 'Food & Nutrition' and 'Food Production'. We will be looking at the different types of food groups, and the choices we make and how this affects our health and lifestyles. We will have a visit from the Heart Foundation to help us read labels on food packaging and we might visit a supermarket to follow up what we have learnt.
We hope to also start establishing our School Garden next term. This will involve designing and building the garden and eventually planting and growing healthy vegetables for us to later eat!
We also continue to be involved in Junior Neighbourhood Support! In Term One we had visits from the Neighbourhood Police Team, Wendy Foreman from Horowhenua Neighbourhood Support and the Levin Mayor Brendon Duffy! Next term we look forward to other community organisations coming to speak to us about their role in the community.
Enjoy the holidays! Be safe!
See you back at School on Monday May 6th!
